Photon fragmentation in the antenna subtraction formalism

چکیده

A bstract The theoretical description of photon production at particle colliders combines direct radiation and fragmentation processes, which can not be separated from each other for definitions isolation used in experimental measurements. these processes must account collinear parton-photon configurations, retaining the dependence on momentum fraction, includes parton-to-photon functions. We extend antenna subtraction method to include up next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD. Collinear is handled using newly introduced functions associated phase space mappings. derive integrated forms describe their interplay with mass factorisation construction principles terms NNLO identified photons are outlined, thereby enabling application different colliders.

Antenna Subtraction at NNLO

The computation of exclusive QCD jet observables at higher orders requires a method for the subtraction of infrared singular configurations arising from multiple radiation of real partons. We present a subtraction scheme relevant for NNLO perturbative calculations in e+e− → jets. The building blocks of the scheme are antenna functions derived from the matrix elements for tree-level 1 → 3 and 1 ...

Virtual photon fragmentation functions

We introduce operator definitions for virtual photon fragmentation functions, which are needed for reliable calculations of Drell-Yan transverse momentum (QT ) distributions when QT is much larger than the invariant mass Q. We derive the evolution equations for these fragmentation functions. We calculate the leading order evolution kernels for partons to fragment into a unpolarized as well as a...

NLO antenna subtraction with massive fermions

We present an extension of the antenna subtraction formalism at NLO to include massive final state fermions. The basic ingredients to the subtraction terms, the NLO massive final-final antenna functions are derived and integrated over the corresponding factorised phase space. Those antenna functions account for all soft, collinear and quasi-collinear limits of the QCD matrix elements involving ...

Antenna subtraction with hadronic initial states

The antenna subtraction method for the computation of higher order corrections to jet observables and exclusive cross sections at collider experiments is extended to include hadronic initial states. In addition to the already known antenna subtraction with both radiators in the final state (final-final antennae), we introduce antenna subtractions with one or two radiators in the initial state (...

Measuring the Photon Fragmentation Function at HERA

The production of final state photons in deep inelastic scattering originates from photon radiation off leptons or quarks involved in the scattering process. Photon radiation off quarks involves a contribution from the quark-to-photon fragmentation function, corresponding to the non-perturbative transition of a hadronic jet into a single, highly energetic photon accompanied by some limited hadr...
